Dr. Subramanyan Namboodiri Varanakkottu

I, Dr. Subramanyan NV is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at NIT Calicut. Earlier, I worked as an INSPIRE faculty in School of materials science and engineering at NIT Calicut. I completed my PhD in Natural Sciences (Physics) from the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany under the guidance of Prof. Steffen Hardt in 2013. Later I worked as a Post-doctoral scientist at the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany (2013-2015) and Ecole Normale Superieure, CNRS, Paris (2015-2016).

I have been awarded with ‘Inspire Faculty award’ in 2016, ‘Early Career Research Award’ in 2017 from the Government of India and 'Young Scientist award' from Kerala State Governments in 2020. My research interests include Optofluidics, all-optical systems and light actuated soft matter physics.
